About Us

The Office of Undergraduate Studies consists of the Assistant Dean, Associate Director, three experienced Assistant Directors who handle most of the day to day advising, a Program Coordinator and an administrative assistant. We do not assign specific advisors to each student so you are welcome to see whomever you choose or the first available advisor. Students have an Advisor of Record listed on your GPS but that is primarily for internal use and you are not obligated to meet with that person. It is preferred that students make appointments in advance using the online system, but we have at least one advisor on duty for drop-ins every day during normal working hours.

We are happy to answer simple questions over email, although we recommend you check the website first as it is a robust resource.  We do ask that you email only one advisor at a time. Our small office serves nearly 1,800 students and it is incredibly inefficient to have more than one advisor working to meet your needs.  Detailed questions are better addressed face to face when options can be considered and acted upon in real time.

The Mendoza Office of Undergraduate Studies is ready to assist our undergrads!

  • Associate Advising Professor and Assistant Director for Advising & Administration

Gina Shropshire returned to her Alma Mater in the fall of 1998 after earning an MA in French Literature and a Ph.D. in Education from Purdue University. During her tenure in the Mendoza College of Business, Gina has divided her time between her academic advising duties and her commitment to working on diversity issues within the college and within the University at large.

In this latter capacity, Dr. Shropshire sits on many alumni and university-wide committees and coordinates special programs in the college aimed at providing both support for students of color and a forum where all students can be challenged to become agents of change. Gina also taught as an instructor for the Moreau First Year Experience seminar.

Gina is integral in coordinating the study abroad plans for many Mendoza students. Her coordination with the International Study Office ensures that Mendoza students have successful experiences.

She has previously worked in the University Counseling Center and Graduate Student Life. Outside of Notre Dame, she was an Academic Advisor at Ivy Tech for Business, IT, and Human Services students. Working with college students - particularly international, first-generation, and multicultural students - is one of Taylor's passions. When she is not working, Jessica is busy making memories with her husband Matt, teen son Brian, and toddler "Princesa" Naomi. In Jessica's free time, she enjoys spending time with her family fishing, walking, gardening/adding more houseplants to her collection, and Latin dancing. Jessica has a love for animals. Her menagerie includes her giant Maincoon cat named Kovu and a tailless cat named Zelda.
